Very awesome (as always)

1 - I am reminded of a short essay assigned way back when in college - "The Historical Roots Of Our Ecological Crisis" by Lynn White. Written in 1967. The skinny - the "people VS. nature" paradigm as opposed to people AMIDST and among nature is rooted in biblical theology. Nature is apart from us - a threat, a best to be tamed and "mastered". Although Feancis if Assissi would say otherwise, the paradigm became an unexamined premise of western civilization. A runaway train. Domination vs. integration. To be clear, the Pope - a Franciscan - gets it. He has written "encyclicals" encouraging a knowledgment of, attention to and cooperation on global warming as well as the darker implications of AI. The Evagelicals and the JDV Catholics - not so much. Indeed, drill baby drill. Bigger picture - it ain't "patriotic", "Christian" or sensible. Just short sighted, selfish (enriching fossil fuel oligarchs) and dumb. Yeah, kudos to the scout master.

Hi Spook,

I have never responded to your news letters, but this one was exceptional. It could even be the seed for a song "troop 12". I could not agree with you more. All the best and if you are ever traveling in southwestern Pennsylvania. Stop by and we will play some tunes. All the best. Amo Loewenthal
