I never understood that and, frankly, neither did Toshi. Burl was a commercialized piece of shit. Harold Leventhal hated the bastard and so did Freddy Hellerman. Pete was often a bit TOO collegial.

I think perhaps accepting forgiveness can be a great challenge. If you wrong someone, and they do indeed forgive you, it can be hard to forgive yourself. Many people often go forward feeling a continual indebtedness. Forgiveness is a challenge, both ways it seems.

This essay opens many feelings. I think forgiveness is for the one who forgives more than ( or instead of) the recipient of forgiveness. The healing is more on the one who was harmed/offended. Maybe.
